Research into Horror

From my research into horror films I have found out that horror films are movies that make every effort to bring out the audience’s emotions of fear, horror and terror. The plots of horror movies frequently involve the obvious themes of death, the supernatural or mental illness. Horror movies usually include a central villain (which is mainly played by a male actor), a main survivor and also a victim (which mainly uses a female actor) .
The Earlier horror movies were largely based on classic literature of the gothic/horror genre, such as Dracula, Frankenstein, The Phantom of the Opera and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
Horror films have been said to be “violent, low budget movies and exploitation films” by people. However, a lot of the major studios and also many respected directors, including Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick, John Carpenter, David Lynch, Richard Donner, and Francis Ford Coppola have made a venture into the genre that is horror. Some critics have closely analyzed horror and found elements of other horror type genres such as science fiction, fantasy, black comedy, torture porn, and thrillers.
